5 Ways You Can Stay Safe and Healthy in a Post Pandemic World

2020 has been a testing year for all of us. Since the COVID-19 outbreak at the beginning of the year, the world has had to adapt to a new normal. Whether it’s by social distancing, wearing a face covering, or washing your hands, we’ve all had to come together to reduce the risk of contracting and transmitting the coronavirus to others.

As restrictions begin to lift and life gets back to some sense of normality, knowing what precautions to take when going about your daily business is key for keeping the virus statistics low. Your health and wellbeing are the most important thing, so here are five things you can do to keep safe in a post-pandemic world.

Stay Safe

Wash Your Hands

While you should already understand the importance of washing your hands, now is more important than ever to get into the habit. Whether you’ve been to the restroom or handled food, you must use soap and warm water and wash your hands for 20 seconds. When washing, make sure you wash between your fingers and under your fingernails. If you don’t have access to a sink, you can use hand sanitizer which will reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19.

Maintain Social Distancing

Whether you’re going to work, the grocery store, or heading to the gym, you must make sure to socially distance from others. However, it can be hard to do so at times, so it’s best to avoid crowded areas if you can. If you’re going out to eat, all fast-food restaurants will have safety measures in place like sneeze guards to keep diners safe. We all play a part in helping lower COVID-19 transmission rates, which is why you should keep your distance from others.

Wear a Face Covering

When out and about, make sure you’re wearing a face covering. Doing so will protect others from the coronavirus. And with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommending that we do so, wearing a face covering will show that you care about the wellbeing of others. You can purchase a face mask from grocery stores, pharmacies, or make one yourself.

Avoid Touching Your Face

The coronavirus can live on some surfaces for multiple days. So, if you’ve been in public and touched door handles, the germs and bacteria that live and breed on them can prove dangerous. In the space of a day, many of us touch our faces without realizing what our hands have touched. So, try your best to avoid touching any part of your head or face, as well as biting fingernails.

Self-Isolate If Sick

You must learn the common symptoms of COVID-19. Once you’re up to date, you can take action if you display any warning signs, such as a persistent cough or high temperature. If you’re not working from home already, your employer will have a responsibility to order you to self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19.

With news of vaccines said to be rolled out in the coming year, normal life may resume faster than we think. However, the coronavirus won’t go away quietly. So, to keep you, your loved ones, and those around you safe, make sure you follow the guidance above.
